Lando Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice
The British driver has beaten Oscar Piastri at each of the past five grands prix.
The McLaren driver edged out fellow driver and championship contender Oscar Piastri for the quickest lap in the final moments of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who seized the championship lead from Piastri by just one point after his victory in the Mexican Grand Prix a fortnight back, beat the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair throughout the hour before the sprint shootout scheduled for 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the only other driver in the points battle, lying 36 points behind Norris, finished in 17th position as his team opted for a different programme.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to have an incident, if briefly, when he spun at Turn Four during the early running.
Tsunoda spun out over the exit kerbs before rotating through the gravel trap, and was fortunate to escape with just a slight brush of the wall.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also spun, at the final moments of the session, turning around through the high-speed Mergulho turn before the final bend on to the pit straight.
The seven-time champion ended the session in P19, trailing team-mate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren drivers were far ahead of the rest of the field, with Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber P3, 0.619 seconds off Piastri's best.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was in fourth, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto fifth from Mercedes' Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
