Area Law Enforcement
Around 50 automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the German city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Vehicles, building surfaces and postal boxes were defaced, in some cases with swastikas, they stated in a release.
Law enforcement state they were contacted during the night on Wednesday, when a man observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish fluid.
The liquid had been applied in the form of a banned symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then located many other smeared cars and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under legislation banning the public display of Nazi symbols.
Officials report early analysis show the fluid was likely human blood.
"There is still no indication as to where it came from; authorities are currently not informed of any physical harm in association with the occurrence," they stated.
Municipal representatives said they were trying "to unravel the case" and have requested to the community for details.
An important official commented the incident made him stunned and required to be resolved rapidly.
"This incident strikes at the center of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the right-wing violent incident half a decade ago," he wrote on online, recalling the death of nine individuals by a gunman focusing on individuals of immigrant origin in five years prior.
